Exochef began with a simple belief: portable cooking could be better.
For too long, portable grills have asked people to accept the same trade-offs. They sit too low. They cook too small. They are awkward to use, messy to clean, and often feel temporary — products made to be replaced, not respected.
No one should put a good steak, fresh fish, or a meal they care about onto a grill that feels like the weakest part of the experience.
We saw an opportunity to take a different approach. Not to make another small grill with a handle, but to rethink what a portable BBQ could be.
A real grilling experience, redesigned into a compact form that can travel.
Portable should not mean temporary. Compact should not mean compromised.
Innovation should make the product simpler to use.
Exochef is built around a simple idea: a portable grill should be easier to use without feeling smaller, weaker, or more disposable.
That thinking shaped the full-height cooking position, compact briefcase-style body, modular fuel system, Exo Heat Engine, and integrated chimney-style ignition for the charcoal module.
The purpose is not to add complexity. It is to reduce friction, keep the mess where it belongs, and make portable cooking feel more capable.

Good design is always about decisions — what to strengthen, what to simplify, what to remove, and what not to compromise.
The goal was to build something people would want to keep, use, maintain, and bring with them because it feels worth owning.
There is a difference between a product that is simply made and a product that is made to be simple.
Exochef began with my own frustration while looking for a portable grill for a camping trip with my daughter. I could not find one that met the standard I was looking for, so I decided to build it.
After more than 30 years in product design, this became personal. I focused on the decisions that matter most in real use: the height, the cooking space, the cleanup, the way it packs down, and the enduring quality people should expect from something they plan to keep.
I hope Exochef reflects that effort.”
